Christmas Party

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

The WELCA Christmas party was tonight! We ate out at a local restaurant. I had Tilapia, Sarah had a hamburger and Emily had chicken nuggets. Then we got ice cream fro dessert. The adults got creme de menthe and the kids got chocolate! The creme de menthe was good, but I think I would have preferred chocolate!

I found out who my secret pal was, but I still didn’t get to say thank you, because she couldn’t make it to the party. I got a cool gift basket tonight, with 2 hot cocoa packages, a glass snowman ornament, cheese spreaders, a notepad for the fridge, and a mug. They were all Christmas related. I’m taking the Christmas pen to work tomorrow.

My recipient was shocked when she found out it was me. I had managed to keep it a secret for a whole year! She thought I spoiled her enough! It sure was fun!

Emily and I signed up for the secret pal project this next year. Sarah decided to abstain, since she will be away at college in the fall. So, we get to spoil 2 new people!

Then we came to freezing rain on our cars! So, it was a pain to scrape off, but fortunately, the roads weren’t that bad, so we got home safely.

Monday Madness 12-04-06

Monday, December 4th, 2006

1. I wish people would just _stay healthy, where I work_.
2. My biggest pet peeve where other drivers are concerned, is _people who drive without headlights on foggy, overcast days_.
3. I will probably spend about _$500_ on holidays this season.
4. I really hope to _get my cards out_ by the end of this calendar year.
5. I make about _0_ resolutions each year, and keep _0_ of them.

Cold Toes

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

It’s in the teens outside and it means that down here in the basement, I have to have my slippers on, or my feet freeze! It what makes me wish we would win the lottery, so we could build a house, with a den, so the computer could be upstairs, where it’s warmer! (Yeah, like that will ever happen.)

On the other hand, cold weather encourages my dog to do her business more quickly, so we both get back inside. It’s winter in WI, what can I say?

I am thankful for the furnace and good windows that keep my house warm, though. It would be a lot colder in here, if we didn’t.

Yesterday, my daughters participated in the Walk for Warmth. 338 walkers and 1000 sponsors raised $9300 towards helping people pay their heating bills. The representative from the gas company said that the money would get a $750 bill down to $15! This is such a wonderful thing, that all these teenagers do! The temperature during the walk, was a brisk 20-something, too! Both of my kids said they were hot, by the end of the walk, though. After the walk, they got cookies and hot chocolate!

Advent Breakfast

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent. Our church, usually has a potluck breakfast, to celebrate. We signed up for an eggbake and muffins! I have to get up early in the morning, to bake the eggbake and then I use my pyrex portable to take it to church and keep it warm. My eggbake always disappears before anyone else’s. I wonder if we will even get some.

Sarah made apple-spice muffins with the two Fuji apples we had laying around! We kept nibbling on the apple pieces, when she was making them, since Fugi apples are so good! I told her to put green and red sugar on the tops, so they looked Christmasy. She also added cinnamon candies to them, too! Yummy. Too bad we have to wait until morning to eat any of this stuff!

It’s cold out, about 15 F. Brrrr. I suppose I have to take the dog out to go to the bathroom one more time yet, too. Ugh. I got my new LLBean jacket today. I love it, but the zipper needs to get broken in! It’s driving me crazy. Maybe I’ll just wear the old jacket, this time!

Snow-updated

Friday, December 1st, 2006

It’s still snowing! We have probably about 6-7 inches in the driveway, and of course, it’s windy, so it’s drifting, too. They originally said we would get 4-6 inches, but it looks to me, like we are getting more. Kids didn’t get out of school, either, but it was too early. We will probably have another opportunity for a snow day, later in the season.

Snow update

Friday, December 1st, 2006

We didn’t get any snow, during the night. It only just started snowing a short while ago. I was just briefly out with the dog and it’s so windy out there! Yikes. The kids will have to go to school, anyway. I just wonder what it will be like, later on!

Milwaukee, and points south, are all under a blizzard warning, right now! Even here in Sheboygan, though, we have 23-37mph winds, though! I’m sure we won’t be going outside for recess, at lunchtime, today.
