1. How many times a month/year do you see the sunrise?
In the summer, hardly ever, because it comes up so early.  Today, I woke up and had to take the dog out at 5am and it was actually BEFORE the sunrise, but I didn’t stay outside to see it rise.  In the winter, probably everyday, since it’s rising, when I take the kids to school! LOL!
2. How many times a week/month do you see the sunset?
Almost everyday, since we are up and about.  Sometimes I’m working and can’t really see it and sometimes we are busy, inside, in the evening and can’t see it, but I’m usually aware of the sun setting and watching to see it’s a pretty one.
3. Do you go out at night and “gaze” at the stars?
Yeah, every night, when I’m out with my dog.  I live in the city, though, so I’m sure I’m not getting the whole picture, because it’s too bright.
4. Do you ever look for star clusters, such as the big dipper, etc?
Yes, I wish I knew more about the different constellations.  The Big Dipper, Orion (the hunter), and Cassiopeia (woman with a chair – looks like a big W), are the only ones I can recognize, for sure.
5. Do you look for planets at night (with or without a telescope)?
Yes.  I often see Venus, as the sun is setting.  A few years ago, I got to see Mars, all summer. (This is without a telescope.)
6. Are you able to see the northern lights where you live? If so, about how often do they come around?
I live in WI, where we only rarely see northern lights, but a few years ago, we really got to see them, and it was sooo cool.
7. Do you like going outside during a thunderstorm and watching the lightning?
No, I’d rather watch from inside a building!  LOL!  I had lightning flash really close to me, once, when I was out with my dog.  It was kind of freaky.
8. Do you have any really neat weather pictures? PLEASE, feel free to share them!
fog-south-dakota.jpg  This was fog around a mountain, on the way to Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, from Rapid City, South Dakota.  By the time we got to WY, the fog was clearing and there was no fog, at Devil’s Tower.  My daughter, Sarah, took the picture.

About Dawn

I like to play the piano, read, knit, and play with my dog. Temps are getting cooler now and the leaves are changing color, since it's fall now.

Same here on #3. I only get to see the stars taking our dog out. :) .
Great photo. Fog can do some crazy things huh. Have a great Monday.

I should have done this one, I love weather related stuff! I rarely see the sunrise either. I get up, groggily, let the dog out in the backyard, then lay down on the couch till he “woofs” at the back door to come back in. :) Like you, I live in the city (or a big suburb) and we don’t see the brilliant sunsets or night skies full of stars, but I love it. I used to sit out as a preteen and watch the meteor showers in the summer and early fall. Still love astronomy stuff like that. But, unlike you, I love bad weather! I’d rather be outside when it’s thundering, lightening and the wind blowing. I think it’s totally cool :)

Great one this week, enjoyed reading your answers Dawn!

Ohh, it’s too bad you miss a lot from ‘light pollution’ living in the city, when it comes to enjoying the night skies. But you can only do what you can do in your circumstances!
I really liked the foggy picture too. Thanks for sharing on your blog.

Thanx for leaving a note on my Blog’s guestbook :) I hope you get more chances to get out into the ‘wide open spaces’ and enjoy the space, stillness, and endless skies sometime again soon.

Oh, the questions this week are great. Sadly, I missed it again.

Ever since my son started attending preschool, I’ve been lucky to witness the sun come up. But I love sunsets more. Every sunset is magical.

I love stargazing especially at the beach.
