Since around here, school has just begun again after summer vacation, my questions this week will be based on school and education… Thanks for playing and I hope you all have a great week! =)
1. Do you have children in school?
Yes! Sarah just started college, about an hour away and Emily is a sophomore.
2. Are YOU currently in school (any level)?
No, not at all, unless you consider inservices at work, to be “school!”
3. Did you (or your children) attend a public or private school?
DH and I went public, from kindergarten through college. The kids have done the same! In fact, Sarah is going to the same public college that DH went to! (He is so proud!)
4. As far as formal education, what level have you completed?
I have a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). DH has a bachelor of science in journalism (BSJ). He also has an Associate’s degree in art, because he went to a 2-year college, before transfering to the 4-year college. When he graduated, he was voted the SDX most outstanding journalist of the year, in 1981. To see some pics he took today, go here. His name is Gary.
5. Do you, or did you have loans out for your (or your children’s) education?
DH had no loans. Parents and jobs, helped him pay for college. I had about $3000 in loans, when I was done, in 1983, but they are LONG paid for! I also worked and my parents helped a little bit. We had enough to pay for Sarah’s first year in college, but might need loans in the future. We will have one year with 2 in college! Yikes!
6. What are your thoughts on the cost of tuition for colleges and universities?
I wish Sarah could pay the costs, that DH and I paid, in the late 70′s to early 80′s! LOL! Yeah, right. Although, in 1980-ish, I did have to buy $300 worth of books, when I was admitted to the actual nursing program. I was warned that it was that expensive and to bring a friend to help me carry it all! (yes, it was that many books!) My Luckman-Sorenson basic nursing text, was 4-inches thick and heavy. The pediatric text was almost as big! Those were just two. I lost the L-S med-surg text to floodwaters in my basement, almost 10 years ago. Â
Although, I don’t think it had anything about AIDS or universal precautions, so even in 1998, it probably was a tad outdated.

Hi Dawn. Tuition fees have increased considerably over the years. Sometimes, the increasing trend can be quite alarming especially when I think that my son has just started going to school.
Hi Dawn!!!
Oh my goodness, just thinking about the kids in collage gives me a headache! The money factor and the fact that they are growing up! I still can’t believe that Gabe is in school…
