The mid-April KAL was called April Showers and designed by Deborah C. Tilley. It does look like falling rain. The yarn is Sugar””””n Cream Faded Denim and was knit on US 6 needles. My Moebius wrap is getting ever wider and getting closer to being done. The picture here was taken on 4-24-09, but I””””ve made significant progress since then. The kids had a blast dying eggs on Easter Sunday, before Sarah went back to school. The eggs were boiled on the Saturday before, but we ran out of time, then. I””””ve also enjoyed watching the flowers grow and bloom.

We are hoping that the flu passes us by. So far we””””ve been lucky, although Emily and I recently had colds. Mine is still here, but getting better everyday. So far, Gary has still been healthy. Emily is hoping they DON”T have a “flu-cation” from school. She thinks it””””s bad enough that we have to make up the wintry days on June 12th and June 15th.

Today, the sun is shining and the temperature is in the high 50””””s, which is a huge improvement over last week””””s rain. A few blocks from us, a sewer collapsed, so a major intersection is going to closed off for a month. Ugh. I hope the time goes fast.

Two nights ago, the weathermen had us with a winter storm watch, for 5-8 inches of snow. Then yesterday, it was only a winter storm advisory, for 3-5 inches of snow. Overnight, we only had about 1/4-inch of snow. It barely covered the driveway and Gary’s car, which has to stay outside, was barely covered with anything. I’m listening to the radio at 7:00am, and WTMJ has a reporter in downtown Sheboygan, reporting about who it’s drizzling a little and the visibility is low. Uhhh, no. I had just been out with the dog and didn’t notice any drizzling or decreased visibility. I can’t believe they sent a reporter up here, all the way from Milwaukee for a measly 1/4-inch of snow! Must be a slow news day. The weathermen get to excited about their models, when maybe they should just look out the window.

It was worked with 54 Baby Green Peaches and Creme yarn, on US7 needles. It makes me want to take a tropical vacation! It was designed by Andi Worthy of the Monthly Dishcloth KAL yahoo group!

This is the mid-June KAL with 2 days finished. I’ve been too busy posting my pictures to knit, this morning! LOL! It’s just yo, k2tog, p2tog, etc, that is making the cable-y design. We aren’t using a cable needle. I love the lacy texture! I’m having fun knitting it. The yarn is 181 Faded Denim Peaches and Creme yarn, on US7 needles.

Oh yeah. It finally stopped raining. My computer corner is all back together, with a new rug on the floor. I love how the new feels to my feet. It’s a lot cushier than the 10-year-old rug was. The laptop was nice, but my regular computer, even at 7 years old, is a lot faster and has a much better monitor.

My heart goes out to the people still affected by the flooding. Ugh. Even when we had 18 inches of water in our basement, 10 years ago, it still wasn’t as bad as other people had it.

Sarah and I are glad we aren’t up in Duluth, MN today. It’s blustery and cold, with a winter storm warning! Brrrr. We had a great weekend, with temps in the 50′s and 60′s, down here!

Duluth Webcam – We found this webcam, after we got home from Duluth, last summer. It’s fun always getting to see what the weater looks like, or how many people are watching the boats go through, or even seeing one of the big ships going through the canal, if you are lucky!

It’s only taken me 3-1/2 weeks to get to this point, from starting the sock, too! Woohoo!

We were stuck in the house today, because of a winter storm warning. There were so many differing guesstimates on how much snow we would get! LOL! What snow? We got mostly rain, just a dusting of snow! It was 35 degrees most of the day, and raining and all that water had nowhere to go, with our huge snowbanks and all! So, the city had to come by to clean snow away from the drain, so the 6″ of standing water could drain into the storm sewer! What a mess. Now everything that was slushy is freezing, since the temp is in the 20′s now!

I wonder if the icy roads and sidewalks will warrant a 2-hour delay in the morning? Hmmm. Probably not.

For dinner tonight, we had chicken, broccoli, and brown-rice casserole! Yummy! (and yogurt and basil and oregano and Parmesan cheese!) . Plus we had a salad, too.

My second dishcloth is done was finished a few days ago! It’s called Diamonds on Lace. Yarn was Peaches n Creme Fiesta Ombre and was knit with size 7 needles.

I’m also on my way, with my second sock! After a few false starts, I got the “join” right and I got an inch done, at the knit-night tonight! I’m past the awkwardness of getting started, with the double-pointed needles and knitting has gotten easier. It was fun to show off my completed sock, to the knitting group, at Bahr Creek tonight!

My market bag, Elisa’s Nest Tote, is all finished with the knitting part. I need to get my crochet hook and the instructions ready, to start seaming up the sides. I haven’t had a chance to get that done yet.

Last week, I made a Baby Genius burp cloth, from the Mason-Dixon book, but I already gave it to my cousin, last Saturday, without taking a picture! Argh! I used Peaches and Creme Sea Mist which is blue, green and white. It was pretty. Now, I’m working on the Mason-Dixon bib! I’ll get a picture of that, before I send it off.

At the knit-night tonight, I was skimming through Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee Casts Off. I was laughing so hard I was crying! Emily and I will have to see if it’s at the library tomorrow!

We missed the last 2 knit-nights, due to bad weather, that only seemed to be occurring on Thursday nights! Two weeks ago, we had snow and last Thursday, the snow happened more during the day, but it had been warm and was supposed to be much colder in the evening, leading to all the wet spots freezing up. Well, that seemed a little too scary to be driving in, so Emily and I stayed home. We love going, so it was hard to just stay home, although, we did knit at home, but sure missed the social aspect of going to the yarn store! All those women are great company!

Amy, one of the usual women who come, is going to Mexico this weekend on a mission trip! Our group knit over 50 hats, for her to take with her, for the orphans! Emily and I knit 2 of those 50-some hats! We can’t wait to get started on new hats, for the next need that comes along.

Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 20′s. I almost don’t remember what that feels like. After the single digits and sub-zero temps of the past week, 20′s will feel like a heatwave. Then we get 30′s to possibly 40, over the weekend! Woohoo!

My first sock is finally getting there. I had already turned the heel, but need to pick up stitches to start working the gusset and there it sat for a month or two! Argh. Anyway, I picked it up tonight and my sock is on its way to getting a foot. My 15yo daughter, Emily, who has knit 2 pairs of socks for herself and one pair for a baby, plus lots of wee socks, helped me through the instructions, so that I didn’t have to keep stopping to see what was next!

I also fixed the center of the snowflake I just did. It had a funny row of purl stitches in the middle, because that’s what the pattern called for, even though the picture on the pattern page, doesn’t have purls in the middle. Anyway, I wanted it more like the picture, so I unseamed the seam and ripped the last two rows out and did: k1, k2tog, to last stitch, k1, and then purled the last row (ws). It looks so much better now.

I’m off to bed now. We got letters this past week, that our pastor is resigning in February, so I need to get to church tomorrow, to find out how others feel about this! I was kind of shocked by the news!

I think I’ll be making another one! Mine will be used for a towel, more, I think, since it’s about 14″ wide and 13″ high.

My market bag, Elisa’s Nest Tote, is now 16″ long, of the 24″ that is required. I’m using Araucania Patagonia Nature Cotton, in pink and blue, which is color #213, with #9 needles.
